I saw the number 442-074-121069 on my caller id. I was in a meeting and couldn't answer. I have several friends who travel all over Europe and The Middle East so I thought maybe it was one of them, I wanted to try and figure out which one of them call so I googled the number to see what country would come up. Surprise, surprise I came across this thread. Thank you, now I dont have to worry about missing one of their calls when I see this stupid number
Called with automated message saying my car warranty was expiring. Pressed 1 to talk to a rep. A man named Paul asked for my car model and year, I told him I thought he should know this if they knew my warranty was expiring, and he promptly hung up
I got a call from Britan's version of this number on my cell phone! How would they even get my cell #? It rang once and stopped, and I didn't try to call them back because I didn't know where I'd be calling.
I received a call from this number this morning, but prefixed with a England country code (44). It said to press one because my car warrentee was expiring. I knew it was a scam because my car is 21 years old (still has under a 100,000 miles though!). I pressed one and got a live person on the line. He most definately did NOT have a British accent. He was American. That indicates that these calls are being routed through a foreign country so as to evade tracking and prosuction under U.S. law. When I tried to find out who the company was who was offering the extended policy the man hung up on me, which is fairly typical for these types of calls. The next time I'll play along and give them false information in the hopes of getting more information about the company. The last one of these company started pestering me I found out who they were and reported them to the FBI. The calls finally stopped only then. (Thank you Congress for doing such a great job in keeping these crooks out of our homes!)
