The actual caller id was 12076776497, which is a sure sign of a scammer. Call was blocked by the free call blocker.
Only one ringy dingy and poof, blocked.
Recorded message from Rachel. I dialed 1 to talk to rep. Response was that there were three calls ahead of me, but it didn't take long at all.
Tiffany came on and asked if I owed over $4000, I said, "Yeah I think so." She didn't say anything but then the call ended. Perhaps she thought I didn't sound desperate enough and realized that this wasn't going to be a productive call.
Next time I'll say, "I wish it was only that much" and then string her along for a while. Then I'll ask if she ever considered doing something honest for a living.
Scamming and phishing only works if there is a market. A legitimate caller will be identified, will leave a name, message and call back number, giving you the option to respond. If you don't recognize the name or number, DON'T ANSWER. I wish all the TV stations would run programs at prime times on scams and cautions; how to report and deal with them. That would be public service in public interest, and hopefully, make these scammers into real losers.
