They go by several names. Legal Mediation Services currently and these scumbags called me 2 weeks in a row. Left voicemail on my phone that they were filing 2 felony arrest warrants with Clark County Nevada. The initially had a "Capital Process Services", Last week they called themselves Rapid Legal Services, anyway they claimed they were process servers and went on to tell me they were giving me a courtesy call to let me know felony charges are being filed and not to keep large dogs or children in my home because I will be detained shortly. I never in my life hear of such [***]. Oh they hang up on you when you ask questions they do not want to answer.
I called the law firm next door to where they "claim" that they are doing business (another law office), located in Maine. The woman that answered the phone was very nice and I asked her if the people that had been calling me that claim to be next door to her were legit. She said she's never heard of them. I also had all of their "attorney's" looked up by her in the Maine State bar website and none of them came up as a match. Scammers is all they are. I called back the number again with my new found info and all the sudden the teeth came out with a woman calling me a [***] and go [***] yourself to me. So obviously they aren't too professional. A little preassure and they crack!
I received this call, yesterday. They told me if I did not respond they would and pay they would have a warrant issued by 2:00 pm, today. I was very upset to say the least!
I received the same telephone call this afternoon which had been upsetting to say the very least. The initial telephone call had been from Direct Processing Services (844) 331-3296 notifying me that I had two felony warrants and when asked for further information, I had been given the "lawyers" office at (207) 805-9378. The particular lawyer I had been speaking with was Casey Richards and she told me that I had an outstanding balance with Advance Cash from April of 2012. She was able to provide an exact date and amount and told me that I could pay the amount by the end of the day to avoid being arrested the following day. I contacted my bank and they could not find any transactions for the amount nor had I ever used a company by the name of Advance Cash. How terrifying! Do not pay them anything!!!
Total scam. You cannot be arrested for being in ordinary civil debt. These people are just trying to scare you into paying them something. Ignore them and block their calls.
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening criminal prosecution to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Act)
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
total scam - attempting to get me to pay a debt that was settled in 2014 - have relentlessly called all my family members and my employer - i am getting an attorney!
