I just received a text message from someone identifying themselves as "Patricia Melvin". The text reads, "This is patricia melvin [sic] I am hearing impaired, can you handle website design for new company and do you accept credit card payment?"
Think I'll respond and say that I've read reports of her previous scams, but would be glad to help for payment in advance and upon clearing of the check.
Just got an email from the same lady. Went back and forth for two day son a web site. Different phone number tho but the same story on the agricultural web site stuff. While she was getting ready to "ask for a favor" I decided to look up her name and some info on the internet and saw this. Thanks for posting. Her new number is now a 323 area code. I had a funny feelings, but, just didn't want to be rude to someone who claims to be deaf. Stinks to be her/him when Karma bits them back.

Got a text at my cell in SE Ontario from "Patricia Melvin" at +1-323-985-3582 on 2015/04/18 claiming to want to hire me for web design (also asking if I took credit cards) I do not advertise as a web designer. Texter claimed to be deaf, representing a Florida company, with a bit of a weird resaon why they are texting from an LA number. I've been stringing them along for a bit to waste their time, since I see that a web search of "Patricia Melvin" turns up a number of such questionable interactions:

Me: Sure, Where are you located? Our LA office may be able to meet your needs. What is your TTY number?

Them: Agricultural produce such as Kola Nut, Gacillia Nut, and Cocoa so i need the best layout design for it. Can you handle that for me ?
Them: I have small scale business which i want to turn into large scale business now. its located in FL and the company is based on importation and exportation of
Me: Why are you calling from LA?
Them: i am currently in the hospital for cancer treatment.
I just got this exact same scenario, I had a bad feeling about this and searched the email and this is the first thing that popped up. The only thing is I have an online payment system and this person just made a $7k Payment with a discover card.
Here is their IP address: 23.235.227.106 and associated scammer email for their rep. [email protected] - I just voided the transaction to avoid a chargeback and reported their [***].
