What a joke! If the person on the line really thought I was going to fall for it, he is really stupid. He gave me the name of Paul Smith but I could barely understand him. I asked him to spell it several times because I could not understand a word coming from his mouth. He eventually hung up on me after I kept asking him questions and now when I try the number, all I get is a busy signal. I tried calling from a different number and it sounds like the same person but now his name is Officer Brian Cooper. Can someone please shut down this scam before someone falls for it!
My husband received a call on his cell phone from 209-682-5870. They left a message saying the IRS was going to file a lawsuit against us and to call back. I knew immediately it was a scam but called the number back in hopes of getting some additional information on who was making the calls. Only received a busy signal. Just reporting so hopefully some unspecting person is not fooled by this.
This number called me claiming to be IRS and that I owe them $ 4986.73. They said I received a letter about my bill and a yellow tape was put in my address. The payment was from my tax return between 2008 to 2013. He siad it wa a federal call and it is recorded conversation. He wanted to get my credit card number for immediate payment so I said I have no access to that money right away. He said half payment and I still said no , I can probably get it by the end od the day. He saud if not he will go ahead with the letter and my bank account and credit cards withh be frozen.
He gave me a name Jack Davis (the guy sounded like Indian) and gave me a badge number IRM19889 .
I said ok. He assured me to call him by 4 pm.
Of course I called the IRS to clarify this issue and was on hold forever but I did not care. I was able to talk to them and they said I did not have any IRS bill and that they are a scam. They gave me a website to report the scammers.
Rec'd same IRS scam as others. Played along and then advised them I have their number and would report them to the FBI. They started calling me a motherf*****, coc*******, and the like!! Morons!!
Called saying a tax case against me..I said at what address as Im on Social Security those years they said I owed..2008-2013..I need to pay 3033. or a arrest warrant is issued for me..told them to ////// off.They were the IRS..
