Same thing as the others on this thread, Alex Ferguson, Indian accent, does not mention who the call is for. Just making threats about federal offense. Can't understand the whole conversation. Saved message.
A friend of mine on Facebook told me there is another scam from the same area code in which they
call you and claim to be from Microsoft Windows to inform you that you have a very serious virus on your computer which they can fix free of charge, but you have to give them remote access to your computer in order to fix it. Then they steal files off your computer. I'm thinking these two scams be related because of a remark made by someone earlier that they have detailed info concerning your tax records? How would they gain that information?
Does anyone have more information about THAT scam, because my mother was constantly complaining and was convinced someone was stealing files off of her computer, Word files, Medical files and TAX FILES!
Received this call on home voice mail this morning from Alex Ferguson from "US Tresaury" threating legal action. Did not identify individuals involved in dispute nor cause of dispute. Had a heavy Indian accent. Isn't impersonating a federal officer a federal crime? Did not call back.
This call came from the same Alex Ferguson, albeit sans the Indian accent, and also without the request to pay a significant amount. Instead, I was informed that my failure to respond would constitute "an intentional 2nd attempt" to avoid US Treasury enforcement action. The call-back number ("so we can help you") was 209-730-6960, which, like the one reported on this page, is also from Galt, CA (near Modesto).
