My daughter who is a college student just received a call from a gentleman with a heavy accent stating that she had recieved xxxx$'s of financial aid. He would not give her a name or his company name. She told him that her mother would call him back....I am glad that she didn't provde any information for him.
On July 22nd, 2015 I received a phone call from a man with a thick accent stating that I was selected to receive an independent living grant for $9,000 yearly for three years. He gave me the name of Mike Ross from the United States Federal Grants Department. I was "selected" for no other reason other than paying my bills and taxes on time. I asked questions and expressed my concern and he attempted to reassure me this was not a scam. He asked for my address. I declined the offer and hung up with him. I called back the number but it would not go through.
I just received a call from a man with a thick accent who told me he was calling from the Federal Reserve, before he could go any further I told him I knew it was a scam and to loose my number and hung up.
I got the same story about winning $9,000 per month. My response was to call "BS" on that and the foreigner just kept spewing his lies. I told him to take me off the call list. He continued to talk so I got a little stronger with the language and hung up on them.
Take note ... this is a SCAM and I have been receiving these calls for the last 6 weeks.
I think my next tact is to act and sound retarded and give them some bogus information. Like maybe my ex-daughter-in-laws name and number.
