My caller ID said BUILDERS SQUARE. The caller hung up as soon as my recorded message started. The variety of messages that others have heard leads me to think this is a phishing operation that is trying to get your credit card information. The number your caller ID displays probably is not the number from which the call was placed. Programs exist that allow callers to display anything they want on your phone. A local hospital uses this legitimately in its billing center, displaying a number for a recorded message that says to call the number the billing personnel left in a recorded message. That number goes to a departmental routing center where your call will be picked up by the next available biller, not necessarily the one who called you. It's the hospital's way of providing fast, efficient service. Many scammers use the false display to direct return calls to a number that has been disconnected.
Hey Sub. I was aware of the ability to mask calls with different numbers. I'm from Canada and I'm wondering if down in the states you have a way to trace which company is being used to mask the call, and then in turn, to search their records for the number that has been calling me. I've been receiving these calls for months now, and their scam changes literally every month, from cruise, to survey, to whatever.
I'd like to personally fly to the location from which these calls are originating, and make my way physically to the person in charge so I can explain the opinions of thousands of people face to face.
