I get calls all the time from people I know, but who routinely block their number to keep it private. These are doctors, stock brokers, a couple of friends, and are people I am willing to take calls from. It is unreasonable to ask them to unblock their number when they call me, but leave it blocked when they call other people. Not answering my phone is not an option, because some of these calls are important.
I understand what you're saying, but when you don't answer the phone and the answering machine comes on, it tell them it's a working number. So they can still sell it, but won't get anywhere with me as I don't answer any numbers I don't know. For cell phone users, get a Google Voice number and give that out at doctor offices and other places. I always check the number out especially when they don't leave a message. Then I go back into the phone and change the name to SCAM or FUK U and then that name is announced the next time they call rather than blocking them and they call using another number.
Amen. I do the same; if I don’t recognize the number I let the phone ring. It’s a shame that I’ve had to also disconnect the answering machine so there’s no contact. I’ve told family & friends if you need me send a text or email, I’m usually online one way or another.
