Joseph, I'm baffled- your reply to anon employee doesn't match his comments at all. I'm a new employee (an ex ministry teacher & former seminary student, NOT an ex convict) who just looked at the dates (several years old) on all these other comments from those we called & former employees. Perhaps this info was true back then, but if so things have changed & this isn't how things are at Statewide Appeal NOW.
More than half the people here have no idea what they are talking about. No, it is not illegal, in fact they are registered with the national government and have a registration number so go ahead and complain all you want. Second, because it is a charitable organization it does not apply to the Don't Call List. All you have to do is tell them you don't want them on their list and they will take you off
I think this is a scam. They called me first to say they were having a state troopers campaign and I said I would not donate. I then called again to ask another time if I would reconsider.
This is a scam and should not be allowed.
Statewide Appeal is a registered and bonded fund raising agency for the Texas State Troopers Association. They are registered with the TX state attorney general. The national Do Not Call list does not apply to non-profits, which is why you'd still be receiving calls. They do contact you on an automatic dialer, which is why when you call the number back it goes straight to the answering machine, because it is an Outbound number, not an inbound. The TSTA is registered as a 501(c) 5 non-profit organization. In order to be put of their personal DNC-list, just ask when you have them on the phone. Be sure to use that phrasing, the 'DO NOT CALL LIST', as some people I worked with won't do so unless phrased like that. Statewide Appeal employes a good deal of people, I am but one of them. It's a good job and a good company. But like any phone call, sometimes it's cut off or one party cannot hear the other. Unfortunately it happens fairly often, and the dialer does like to crash sometimes due to our call volume. Please do not take it personally, as we don't take the cussing, yelling, and even threatening that we have to deal with daily. Telemarketing is one of the hardest jobs out there, but we are doing it
How many times have you gotten the bonus? That sounds a lot like the scripts answers, I hope your not taking them out of the office, that wa prohibited.. Besides most of the managers smoke weed, not the greatest job I've had, also are you one of those convicts??
As to all of you that are mentioning the "Do Not Call List," THAT ONLY APPLIES TO PEOPLE SELLING THINGS. Statewide Appeal is NOT selling anything therefore are EXEMPT from the "Do Not Call List." Before you start waving your "Do Not Call List complaints, read up on your laws. Federal Law states that any Non-Profit organization or anyone calling on behalf of a Non-Profit organization are not effected by the list. If you want your number put on Statewide Appeal's "Do Not Call List" THEN ASK THEM AND THEY WILL WITHOUT AM ARGUMENT because they ARE required BY FEDERAL LAW to place any number on their "Do Not Call List" at the OWNER'S request. I dont like people calling my house asking for money either and everyone that calls, I get the name of the person calling, the name of the company they work for and the organization they are calling on behalf of and then POLITELY ask them to place my number on their "Do Not Call List." Although I personally dont have time to listen to them, i can understand the stress and anguish these people have while doing their jobs, asking for money for a non-profit with the economy the way it is. They must talk to hundreds of people a day that treat them like crap but I will not be one of them that looks down on them for calling. Everyone needs a job and if this is the only thing they can get then so be it. I personally wouldnt want to do their job but I wont go out of my way to talk trash about them or make them feel like I am better than them.
