The guy claimed to be from Microsoft. Mark Williams. I asked to call him back and got an office claiming to be Microsoft so I stupidly let him into my computer to fix the imaginary problem. He then tried to sell me AVG software. I didn't buy it but I don't know if he left something in my computer.
I just got a call from a guy named Shawn Thompson says he is with the US Gov. and my computer was being used for Cyber Crimes-gave me some IP address , his # and wanted me to log on and he would help me get rid of the infected problem. Got mad when I told him he was out of his freaking mind and told me I was going to be arrested. I called the Police dept. they said it was probably a scam as I thought. The US gov does not work that way.
I, too got a call from this number - again. This time I strung "Ron Miller" (strong, strong Indian accent) along for a while, until he wanted me to log on to their site. He claimed to be from Microsoft and gave me the story about cyber criminals using my IP address, but he didn't know my IP address. I told him I'd verify his number, but just Googled it and got here. Funny that on my Caller ID log it shows 253-243-1201 from Kent, WA. Called that number but it was not in service. If I had more time, I'd just waste that guy's day.
