Got a call from this # at the office. He asked for Mr Whatever, when I said he wasn't here, he asked if I was Mrs. Whatever. I asked where he was calling from and I couldn't understand a word he said. Said he would call back later. I think I'll have some fun with this one.
In the past 2 days started recceiving calls from this number. They leave no message
FInally today I talked to some idiot, could hardly understand him. I told him his mother was a muslim [***]. He hung up !
I started getting calls from this number at work today (3/6/08). After perhaps the 7th time in two hours, I got fed up and answered it. It was some Indian guy named Justin (wonder if that's a popular name over there?) telling me I have bad credit and they can help. I told him that first off, you people don't know a damn thing about my credit (I think my FICO score is around 750-760), and to put me on their do not call list. I had to tell him that about 3 times, and he finally hung up on me.
A man with a strong accent asked for me by name. I responded by asking him if he was selling me a mortgage. He said no and proceeded to discuss mortgages. I hung up on him.
THIS IS A SCAM. THEY ASKED FOR MY S.S.# AND A CREDIT CARD #. I TOLD THE GUY ("CYRUS ROGERS") I DON'T GIVE THAT OUT OVER THE PHONE. AS SOMEONE ABOVE ALSO REPORTED, HE CLAIMS HIS COMPANY CAN STRAIGHTEN OUT LOW CREDIT SCORES, AND THEN GET A MUCH LOWER MORTGAGE RATE 4.75%.
THEY HAVE A PHONY WEBSITE WWW.HOMEOWNERCREDITREPAIR.COM. THEY DO HAVE A WORKING FAX # 800-949-1784.
ANOTHER SCAM TIP OFF. HE SAID HE HAD TO HAVE MY SS# AND CREDIT CARD # WITHIN 2 HOURS OR THE DEAL WAS OFF. ALTHOUGH CALLER ID SAID 212-4375,
HE SAID HIS CALL BACK # WAS 866-563-9094. HE HAD AN ACCENT I COULD NOT PLACE AND HIS GRAMMAR WAS NOT ALWAYS CORRECT, AS THOUGH ENGLISH WAS NOT HIS NATIVE TOUNGE.
SINCE THAT FIRST CALL, WHEN HE CALLS BACK, CALLER ID SHOWS ONLY 3 OR 4 DIGITS, E.G. 217 OR 1321.
