This morning after getting a bogus call from a different number...I decided to check my caller ID. I had two calls yesterday from this number, stating it was McGraw Hill. Thanks for the heads up.
My mom has received phone calls for the last 3 weeks, and since they were foreign, she was unable to understand them. However, she was able to understand the girl today, and she was very persistant about her turning her computer on so that they could look at it and fix the viruses that are on it. She told them that she didn't have a problem with her computer and hung up on them...hopefully they won't call her back.
Call from same number. Caller ID said McGraw Hill (that's a publishing house!). I decided to give the heavily accented man a hard time - he kept talking about Window - and in the end I said that nobody in the house had a computer. Then he hung up.
wow - I called this number back and McGraw Hill has a message on it - they are aware their number was spoofed and we are NOT to give out any personal info etc..
Please be advised that this scam company changes their name constantly. Yesterday it was Best Company. They may call back a number which the caller id displays 866 539-8674. Usually the person calling back is aggressive and trying very hard to have you allow them access to your computer. Once again, do not fall for their scam. They are not affiliated at all with The McGraw-Hill Companies.
