John - Same as Andy : I think if you truly read what people are saying you will see that these cold callers are IN FACT rude. If they were NOT rude they WOULD LEAVE their info to follow up on -however these RUDE callers just hang up on you mid - sentence! As soon as you say "No they aren't - may I take a message" by the time you get to "aren't" you have been RUDELY hung up on. They wouldn't even let you get part way throught your >> "thank you for calling me but ***RUDELY HUNG UP ON BY NOW** I am happy with my current adviser" and if your not then ask them for some information - who knows maybe they can help you.<< I AM SURE NOW this IS what you BOth do for a living. if you ARE JUST DOING YOUR JOB AND TRYING TO GAIN ACCOUNTS - don't RUDELY HANG UP on people. YOU try smiling and at least sat THANK YOU before hanging up on people.
~Not angry at all! :o) just tired of people wasting my time (and theirs) by RUDELY hanging up.
I got a call on April 5th at 2:05pm from a fast-talking Joe Curcuru. Said I didn't know him now but he would soon be my best friend, blah, blah, blah. He wanted me to "invest" "just" $5000 in his stock gem, SodaStream. I had to act now, of course. I kept him on the line on speakerphone so I could let him go on with his schtick while I worked away on other things. It got to the point where I could clearly hear a supervisor in the background literally telling Mr. Curcuru what to say, word-for-word, which Mr. Curcuru loyally did. I suppose they thought they had a "whale" since I didn't hang up on them. I kept him on the line for just over 30 minutes at which point Mr. Curcuru told me I was stupid and broke and he hung up on me. Well, my 30 minutes of background entertainment kept him from calling 10-20-30 other people and harassing them. These unsolicited calls can be reported to the FCC as a complaint at their website. The form is very easy to complete and you'll get an e-mail reply that your complaint has been filed and is being investigated.
These people will not stop calling. They are a boiler room stock broker. Sort of remind me of the "Warewolfs of Wall Street". They called me a month ago to tell me about a fantastic investment opportunity. Had them send me info, but was not impressed. They kept calling back and would not take NO for an answer. FOr the past three weeks they have called me every day (sometimes twice a day). And if I was so important to them you would think they would leave a message, but Nope, just keep calling back. Who can I file a complaint with?
"John" from "Joseph Gunners" office called just now asking for my boss by his first name claiming they "are getting back to him" when asked if they had spoken before he claims "yes"
I asked who was calling and he says "john" I ask from where and he says "Joseph Gunner's office" I ask what this is regarding and he replies "Joseph Gunner" (this tells me effing nothing..as I don't know who the F "Joseph Gunner" is I tell the guy "My Boss will want more info than that "WHAT is this regarding?" (By this time I know this is a Scam and am trying to waste his time as much as he is wasting mine...)
He tells me they are a brokerage firm out of NYC and they are "reaching back out to him"...is he available?!?!?" (very effing pushy)
I re-verify that "oh?! so you have spoken to him before???"
"yes. yes we have spoken previously"
So, being the nice person I am, I put him on hold and come to good old trustworthy 800-Notes, and read the comments here
This company has called me twice in the last 20 minutes. First on my cell and then on my office number. I pulled this report for the skeptics and would advise people be very careful with any dealings with this firm. They have a record of being censured and fined by the SEC. I advised "Kevin" that he probably ought to find another line of work.
This does not denote a quality firm for investments:
