Been called 27 times by these people in the last 2 weeks - it's now harrasment, not annoying. Tried raising it with Century Link but they deny any knowledge of any call center use from India
We get calls from this man and woman all the time. We had a elderly man that worked here that has since retired. He was very grumpy and would ask the phone is this very grumpy voice and say Limbaugh, which was his last name. So each time they call we answer the phone Limbaugh and when they ask to speak to one of us, we just transfer them to the next office down the hall and they do the same. One day we tried to see how many times we could transfer them before they gave up. Some days we change up and answer the phone, "This is Peggy, how may I help you?" We just have fun with it. They get mad and just hang up.
They said they were from Century Link or in some cases HP. They want to send a white paper. I tell them I am not interested and don't want any white papers. Then they keep calling back to harass me. They are nothing more then to harass you. They should be shut down. I doubt they are even calling from the US. Their English is horrible.
A man with a foreign (Nigerian?) accent wanting to talk to a name I didn't recognize. I asked who was calling. He said "Dell Computers." I asked whether he was trying to reach our IT department. He said yes, he would like to talk to the IT Manager. I told him we don't take sales calls, but that he could send us information by US mail. He immediately hung up.
They're calling me around twice a day to ask about a white paper. Same script every time. Different amalgamation of tech words put together to form some shell company that's likely fake.
My suspicion at this point is they're 'Data Stewards' ( dataminers) located either Pakistan or India. They're tasked with calling to verify that the number is accurate, and the person at the other end at least somewhat matches the name they have on their list.
This call is no doubt ran through a SIP node of some type using a NY registered number. They need to be reported for fraud, and the FCC can get involved.
They're not sending any form of white paper. If they can verify your email address, this is fed to a database, that's sold to phishers/scammers.
