Display on phone said Verizon. I have verizon service so I answered. Women said (heavy accent) she was from department of Windows. I hung up immediately. If I do not recognize phone number, I let it go to answering machine, but of course they don't leave messages, because they are usually scams, or timeshare or whatever
Just got a call from this number on my cell phone. The heavily accented male didn't even try to speak English. I just said back that I don't speak scammer and I hung up
Got a call from this number at 3:38 p.m. Display said Verizon with this number. Said he was calling from Microsoft, told he his name was Jack when I asked. Said there was a problem with my computer, they were "getting a lot of crossover." Heard people talking in the background (like a call center), had an accent that was not Hispanic, and not Indian or any other recognizable Asian accent (possibly Eastern European). I hung up.
The caller I'd said VERIZON 212-630-2008 so I answered. A heavily accented female voice, with noise in the background, said VERIZON was receiving errors from my computer. I was like "What are you talking about?" "What has VERIZON got to do with my computer?" I asked so many questions she hung up.
DO NOT ANSWER IF YOU DONT KNOW THW CALLER/NUMBER!
If you don't know who's calling you, don't answer. The initial call is an auto-dialer. Once it detects a live answer, the number goes into a database and gets sold to any scammer willing to buy the list.
Let your machine/VM answer. After you check the machine to ensure the scam, call, block the number. You'll keep getting calls, but they might lessen after a while.
