I had to answer this note. My husband passed away three tears ago the first of November, So I am also a widow.
The caller hangs up after 4 rings so I never spoke to him/it . When I tried to call back the number is NOT is service.
I had my phone number unlisted [ landline] and how can you add to Do Not Call when the number ""IS NOT IN USE""
My daughter gave a cell phone so most of the family and emergency calls are on the cell phone.
Ellie ~ I know exactly how you feel being alone makes the "asinine" calls. My husband traveled quite a bit so sometimes it dulls the pain of the corrupt a$$e$ that make the calls. You will be in my thoughts with good wishes. Also ~REALLY amazing about our names being so much akin.
reporting to 'do not call violations' doesn't help because the caller ID is fake and un-traceable. add the number to your contact list and customize the ring volume to silent [and the notifier]. now you won't be bothered...until they call again with a different fake number...just do it again...
I feel the same way. They called about 10 AM this morning it was a recorded message. I'm going to be taking off my landline indefinitely in January. Because I cannot live like this with these calls forever anymore. The FCC nor the Government won't do crap about it no matter how many times we report them. The police will just file a report that's about it. They don't take these seriously. I'm getting sick and tired of these lunatics . I wish the American people would wake up and protest about this too. We need peace in this country. I guess they don't give a damn about our safety or privacy either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So tired of this fear and this crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having the same problem as the rest of you. DNC list, pressed # 3, # 9, etc.
I have given up trying to report them to the BBB; phone co., Fed. gov., etc.
I have resigned myself that the ONLY way for my own peace of mind 'to get even' is to press #1 and wait for one of the pay commissioned idiots to answer. When they do, I tactfully play along as far as I can including giving them a false Credit Card # that is my real number with the exception of the last eight #'s. They can verify my name via their caller I.D. to my phone number, so I have to stay in the game. They will finally verify that the card # I gave them does NOT match with me. But by now, they ( and me also !) realize that they have been played and that I wasted their time ! Their system may allow them to flag our number to NOT to be called. No, they cannot get revenge by tagging your number by having them call more often.
