Don't let them or anyone every access your computer. It is a scam. Said getting a report Im getting pop up ads and would help me eliminate them. Asked how they got my phone # thru my computer.... He couldn't answer. Said have an apple and they hung up.
Caller told me an Internet report showed my computer was running slow. I knew it was a scam. Played along for a bit then called him on it and hung up. He called back and unleashed a string of obscenities.
got a call from this number. I thought that the call was from the company that I chatted for software problem. caller almost persuaded me to download teamviewer to diagnose my computer. I didn't know the teamviewer scam. I asked him to email me to verify the genuineness of the caller before I download the program. He never emailed. I searched internet and find the infamous teamviewer scam. Thanks God.
from Iowa.
I had a guy from work tell me he had a popup come up and said his computer was hacked and to call Microsoft. He did just that and paid these scammers $199. I told him to not use his PC and change bank accounts, alert the 3 credit agencies and change all his passwords. Today, I visited him and saw the TeamViewer on his desktop, a document and he even showed me the email for their services. I was surprised that the didn't delete any restore points so I restored it to the day before it happened. About 5 minutes later, they called him to make sure his PC was running ok. I told him that Microsoft (nor a legitimate company) would never call him and ask for money. A hard lesson to learn but I think he knows what to do next time.
Caller id displayed 212-732-8385 New York. Caller said we had placed a service request for slow computer response. I responded we didn't place a help request. Called said we clicked on a link and that we were having computer issues. Told caller he was scammer and hung. Jerks
These jerks are calling persistently around dinner time. Caller identified himself as 'Jack' from TSA 'Technical Support Assistance'. They are using a reverse directory, knew my wife's name when they called. I had my wife string him along for a while.
Remember to have fun with these idiots: keep them on the phone call as long as possible and throw all kinds of confusion at them. They get really annoyed when you go outside of their script and eventually they will hang up!
- the computer is off and you can't figure out how to turn it on
- purposefully 'misunderstand' instructions for going to the remote support sites they want you to use
- blame them for 'damage' to your PC and tell them they had better come over and fix it right now!
- tell them you are sending them your bill for services
- offer to sell them services
