Thanks you to everyone who took the time to report this call as another Windows scammer. Good grief, those crooks must be getting a little long in the tooth, this particular con has been around for 20+ years now.

You'd have thought those old farts might have moved along to another grift by now but maybe they've made a family trade of it & passed along their skillz to their kids.

Blocking 'em right now, though, thanks to all you good folks at 800Notes.

If they are still calling after all these years it simply means that some people are being fooled by them into giving money.

Short story happened about 2012-13:  I have a Lexmark printer and needed some help from the manufacture to reset it and connect it to my computer ( I have windows) so I called the 800 number for Lexmark that was glued on to the machine on the label the way I bought it.
Lo and behold someone answered me with the thick Indian accent so I apologized, hung up and dialed the number again,,,same person answered.
He assured me that he was a rep for windows and Lexmark  asked me to turn on my computer and he will fix the problem.( of course that was the legitimate number for Lexmark customer service I dialed as accompanied with the purchase)
I did all he said then right before my eyes he was in my computer all over the screen.

Next he was telling me that my problem was the thousands of viruses in the computer and in the printer (poor me a non tech person) then he start demanding $600.00 from me, yelling and screaming while moving his mouse all over my computer which was brand new at the time.

I am not a tech person at all but I thought that I have NEVER heard of virus inside a printer, so I decided to work my way out by telling him that My family member with the credit card was not home but will be in a couple hours and he reluctantly agreed to call back.

I just unplugged my computer and printer and took it to Best buy Geek Squad for and immediate cleaning. He had logged himself my computer and left his software and everything.
Best buy was able to remove everything, of course my printer had no viruses,,,,, so that was the last I heard from them.......until the past two weeks the daily early morning calls.

Th big question I have is how did they re-route the legitimate number for Lexmark customer service to those scammers. Guess I will never know.

Interesting you said that, scammersrcrooks. I recently had an issue and a legitimate tech support guy for another company took control of my computer as a means of rectifying my issue. It goes without saying he was an outsourced, offshore worker. Now I am getting repeat calls from Windows scammers, and after reading your comment, now I'm wondering if my helper "outsourced" my phone/ID to his scammer friends. And I'm also wondering how many of us out here are vulnerable to crooks since most every IT company uses tech support overseas & far away from the long arm of US law. Hmmm. Thank heavens for Malware Bytes, is all I can say.
