I got a call from these people too. it says WINDSTREAM on my caller ID machine. I didn't answer this as I had answered a call just before this one & it was a recording saying I had won trip to the Bahama's so I knew this was just scammers. I used to have Verizon for my phone service & was allowed to have 100 free call blocking numbers I could enter. This was great as I had those scammers down to hardly not calling very often. But when the new company took over, they said I would have to start all over & I would have to pay for their 100 number call blocking as an added on new feature & pay monthly extra for it. No way. I'd rather spend that extra amount on a personal call blocking machine & not give it to this piece of crap company that treated me like poop & taking to dang long in getting all 3 of my services back up. I don't like nor can afford a cell phone so I am reliant on my home phone service. I had a problem with Verizon 1 time & it was because the box on the outside of the house that ran all 3 of my things as the box was a bad one & they replaced it the next day & not a month & a half later like this new company.
Anyways, I figure this WINDSTREAM caller is crooks wanting to talk people into getting into your computer to steal credit card numbers, accounts you have or anything like that including your identity with all your information that is in your computer.
I received the call today 5/17/16 at 9:01 a,m. asking for my husband Caller had thick Indian accent saying he was from Windows and that he had been trying to call my husband for 2 weeks regarding a virus that he had on his computer. What was scary, was that he knew his first and last name AND our address!! I told the caller we had an anti-virus program but he still insisted we had a problem. I told him I questioned the legitimacy of his phone call and if he was so concerned that since he had an address, he could mail something to it!! Hoping call will stop!!
