As like others, I come here to look-up numbers that call & don't leave messages. So to those that said they were relieved that it wasn't only them, believe me, your far from alone. I guess technology is like everythingelse, can beside for good or bad.
The one thing I'm wondering, & maybe someone on here knows the answer. Are these type of calls from "Claim your On-Line business before someone else does" all from the same company? I ask because numerous numbers I've looked up on here all had the same set-up. If not, why in specifically these type of calls, (yes, I know it's done with other types as well, but it seems to be a common theme to these type of calls), is this their M.O? There are many different ways Telemarketers try to get your business, but it seems in the "Claim your On-Line business before someone else does" calls, they all seem to take the threatening "act before it's to late approach." Why specifically here do they all seem to take the same approach unless it's 1 company, which I highly doubt there's only 1 company doing this. Have they found that in this scam the best approach is to use the threatening approach, as if you "DON'T ACT NOW" you'll regret it later when you try to claim your domain & somebody else already has. Which has kind of died down, but in the early days of so many people using the Web to look up companies or do business online, there was a time when people were buying up any Domain Name they thought would be needed, so they could sell it to the company for a large profit, but that's pretty much dead as they've all been taken.
I guess the weird thing that I'm hoping someone knows is, Why do all of these type of companies seem to take the threatening aggressive approach? There are plenty of Telemarketers trying to sell you something that take a nicer approach, so it must be that it's the same company (which I doubt), or they've found in this line that the aggressive approach works the best. The 1 positive thing seems to be that they probably won't be around long, as so many report, when they try to get to a live person they have a hard time or a long wait. So these businesses must not be very well staffed either because they aren't very successful & can't afford more employees, or the employees are constantly quitting, (I'm in HR & their turnover rate must be at or very near 100%) as they see the promise of riches when they're hired never materializes. There will come a time, which I don't think is too far off, that companies that want or need a web presence will have it, & those that don't have decided they don't. There has to be a very small percentage of companies left that haven't decided that they either, aren't aware of the need to be online, or have decided that for their line of work, they don't need to be online. & that number is getting smaller everyday, to the point that it won't be worth it to open these kinds of companies because there's such a small possible customer base left that the start-up costs simpy aren't worth it anymore.
May that day come sooner than later, & these annoying calls will end!
BTW, they're for the most part getting your information from the online Domain Owner Database, so while initially you may not feel it's worth paying extra for a Private listing, if these calls bother you so much, it may be worth the couple extra dollars to have a Private Domain Name, so they can't see your contact Info.
rcv'd call 07/27/15. I called back and pressed 1 to be removed. Rcv'd call (again) 09/03/15, and told them I had opted out, and gave them hell. Rcv'd call (again) 09/29/15, same California BS about Google and ???....I mentioned I opted out, and proceeded to be quite unpleasant to the guy. So, what do we learn? 1) Opting out does nothing. 2) Obvious scammers as the number from each call changed but the sales pitch is exactly the same. 3) Call blocking does not do [***], as the numbers changed each time. So, scammers, beware, I will exercise my right as a homeowner having been invaded by you, and use my best R. Lee Ermy language. If I can get you to cry / quit....even better.

Didn't answer this call. A voice message was left. Caller did not identify herself. Stated they wanted to talk to the business owner about their online presence. Said they had tried numerous times to reach me.

Call began with a recording, asking me to press a couple of keys and wait. When someone answered, I asked to be put on their do not call list. He argued with me, and insulted me.
