My caller ID says they are calling from la. I didn't answer and did not call back.

You can't know for sure where they are calling from -- it's a spoofed number.

My ID said LA area too.  The area code is the downtown LA area.
I didn't call it back either and now have blocked the number on my cell phone.

You are correct and insightful to say exactly what is is.  I never answer a number that I cannot identify and they never leave a number, so they are not worth my time.

Ever stop to consider whether the mistake was a result of auto-correct? Of course, considering that could take away grammar nazis' sense of superiority brought on by correcting people.
