I love your response I got a call like that the other day and I said "Really well hang on a second and I then went and got a whistle and blew it as hard as I could into the phone ha-ha
2 days ago I watched a YouTube video about this EXACT type of computer scan. The video was taken by a person with a technical background, and was meant to bust the scammer. It was rather long, but extremely interesting as he recorded every step the scammer took. Today I get a -missed- phone call from this phone number (which I don't answer since I don't recognize it) on my cell!. Imagine my surprise when I research the number and get to this site?? How the HECK did watching a YouTube vide0 - on an Xbox that is not connected to my wireless at that! - get my cell number???
Indian accented man called (displayed as Los Angeles,CA) multple times. He claimed to be from "windows" and our computer was sending out bad stuff. He called cell phone that was not tied to our company and said he needed to take over computer remotely right now to fix issue it was causing. I called his bluff and he hung up. Totally phishing scam.
They did not get your cell phone from a video. They are calling everyone. Called me today. I played along to see how far he would go to try to get my computer. I wasted his time for at least 10 minutes. Finally I said, I do not have a Windows 7 computer I have a MAC and he quickly hung up.
I answered this call, also man with thick Indian accent, claimed was from the Fed govt - wanted to confirm if I used my internet to access online shopping - I hung up!
