Is there no way to stop these scammers? Just since 7/12 they have called from three different numbers:
818-471-4969
800-288-2020
213-519-5751
Overall I have recorded their use of twelve different numbers since last October with multiple calls from each number. If this is not harassment I guess I don’t know what harassment means.
This is apparently a California company making calls within California ignoring both Cal PUC and Federal regulations.
Try to block them and it works for a while but they just switch their calling number and the calls continue.
This is scam stating that you have been chosen to receive a free medical safety device. It is another senior scam to get credit card number and possibly ssn.
I have been getting calls from this number 213-519-5751, every Thursday the call around the evening and then hang up!! Who is it!!!??? He/she has been calling me since June 13th, 2013, the June 20th, and today June 27th.
I received two calls from this number on 6/25/13 and 6/26/13, both picked up by my answering machine. It sounds like a live person talking, but were IDENTICAL sounding messages with the same "ums," pauses, and all.
All our phone numbers (cells included) have been registered with the Do Not Call Registry for a long time and the only suggestion I know of is to get your numbers on this list (and do it for the seniors you know). Once on the list for a specified length of time (I believe it's 30 days) one can report these kinds of calls on their simple "complaint" form. The more details you have, the better. It's a quick on-line process.
Another suggestion I recommend is to register your name/address/phone numbers, and those of seniors you care for/are related to with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, via their DMAchoice.org link. I recently did this for my husband's parents, who we just spent a week with in Ohio, in which I was shocked to see the amount of junk mail and phone calls they got daily while we were visiting.
Unfortunately, any organization one has done business with or sent money to, will not be affected by this action, as you need to contact each of these places individually to request removal from their contact list. My mother-in-law has given so many little checks to so many organizations pleading for money, I have a long road ahead getting them to STOP bothering them now, both nearing 90 and in no financial shape to be giving what's left of their savings away.
BTW, "call type" asked for while entering this information should include an option for whatever this kind of scam call is called. I left this as "unknown", but I wish there was an option to choose "SCAM"!
received call for a prepaid life alert system..will not stop calling. on the do not call list. you call the number back and it is number that is not working....
