Of course only an imbecile would actually fall for this scam but I like to talk to scam callers, to see what's goin' on in Bangalore.
This call came from (213)-928-6387, supposedly in Los Angeles. A man with a very thick Indian or Pakistani accent told me "their service center" was receiving traffic from my PC whenever I logged on, and that their analysis showed it is infected with a pernicious Trojan virus. Fortunately, he offered to help. It seems a lot of people at that call center were helping other. It was so noisy behind him that he had to keep asking whether I could hear him. I could even hear other conversations. That trojan is running amok. Everyone with a phone has got it!
He walked me through some of the Windows management screens to browse warnings and errors and asked me to delete one, which Windows does not permit. This naturally proves that my PC is infected with a nasty Trojan, but don;t worry. I said he was going to help me. Remember? He asked me to open Internet Explorer  and go to www.win32.us.  I Googled, "what is win32 us" and saw newspaper articles describing the scam to get remote access to victims' computers. So I hung up.
But he called me back. I told him I changed my mind. He asked why. I said, "There is nothing wrong with my computer."
He said," So you don;t want me to help you?" He sounded hurt. Con men have feelings too.

So since a lot of the people that fall for this scam are elderly and don't have the computer savvy younger people do, then they are all "imbeciles"?  So if your parents fell for this we could classify them as "imbeciles".  Perhaps you should rethink that post, if you even put the effort of thinking into it before you wrote it.

213.928.6387.  Called ID:  Michael Smith.  Indian accent.  Guy said he represented IT Solutions of Windows (no mention of Microsoft or particular OS).
Me:  "I never heard of IT Solutions.  Where are you located, sir?"
Him: [ignoring Q] "Yes, your computer is infected.  You need to go into computer and search-"  [I interrupted him]
Me:  "Wait - how do you know my PC is infected?"
Him: "It report this to us."
Me:  "Interesting - I don't remember having a control ticket ... it doesn't seem messed up."
Him: "I can assure you it is infested but we can help."
Me:  "That's amazing - I am so glad you called.  I would never have known."
Him:[sounding annoyed] "You must stop interrupting me.  Be quiet so I can explain to you the steps to find infected files."
Me: "I'm sorry - it really is noisy there."  And it was - some loud background chatter.  I could make out this was a call center and another guy was making the same call, using the same exact wording as this knucklehead as per some script they were following.
Him:[rudely] "Yes - if you would be quiet and listen, I can have you open Windows and-"
Me: [interrupted him again for spite] "Wait a second - you're saying my computer is smarter than me, smart enough to call you guys because of something bad it found."
Him: "Uh, exactly.  It report to us infection.  Virus."
Me: "Ahh - it's so noisy there!  Listen - you need to tell that loud guy in the background he must shut the hell up so I can hear what you're saying to me."
At this point, a long pause ensued with an unnerving SIGH, and the phone went dead.
