Here's the answer to all our prayers. I found this on a site I posted a telemarketer's number at. I tried it and it WORKS! I put the tones at the beginning of my phone greeting about three months ago and in the last three weeks have had "ZERO" calls. Whover posted that "THANK YOU, THANKI YOU". Here's what I found:
Telemarketers almost exclusively use autodialers to make their calls. One out of a thousand will have live reps doing the dialing. When these dialers connect (you answer the phone) they first listen for any tones generated. If no tones are detected they then transfer the call to one of the reps in a call center. If the autodialer hears the 3 beeps from dialing a "DISCONNECTED" number, the number that was just dialed is automatically "REMOVED" from their list. Below is a link that has this tone plus the verbal message. You DO NOT need the verbal message. Download or copy the "DISCONNECTED" MP3 or WAV file to your desktop. Create or change the greeting you have when someone calls you and you're not available. At the VERY BEGINNING of your message place the 3 tones (NOT THE VOICE MESSAGE) then continue with your usual or normal greeting. The autodialer will hear the tones and BINGO, your number will be removed since they think it's a disconnected number. DONE. In a few weeks you will be removed from all or most of the lists. Of course you may have to explain the tones to the callers you DO want to speak to but that's a small tradeoff. Pass this info on to anyone you know that gets junk calls or even help post this on these websites. If you continue getting calls after reading this, it's your "OWN" fault! END JUNK CALLS.
I couldn't find a way with my carrier or on my cellphone to block these calls so what I did is everytime a new number comes in, I add it to my contact list and then set the ringtone to mute. They still call all the time but my phone doesn't ring any more and annoy me and I still get the calls I do want.
I know it is Drive and I have talked to these people. I made arrangements with them for my car payments and still they call. I have over 30 phone calls on my cell phone from them even after I called and talked to someone to make arrangements. I have told them several times to quit calling my cell phone since I have made the arrangements and still they call. Some one at Drive told me it is a bill collector just doing his/her job. I told them no it is a bill collector harrassing me since arrangements have already been made. I never had this problem before with Santander/Drive but it seems I am 25 days late on a payment because I didn't make the whole payment only a partial!
For those wanting to know how to block, if you have a Droid cell they are calling you can get Mr. Number call blocker-I use that one. And every time they call I block the number, so I have about 6-7 numbers of theirs blocked. It will also give you a list of the dates and times each blocked number called. I get about 8 calls a day from them from a few different numbers and I am only 2 days late-AND I called to tell them I would be to which they replied "Well, we wil note that file but that won't stop the calls" WTF? My loan matures this month and they won't get back to me about what I need to do since I can't afford to pay it off because apparently when they bought my loan from Citifinancial my loan term changed WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE and that leaves me about $4000 upsided down. As much as I will be glad to not have a car payment, in a way I want to get another car JUST to get out from under Santandar. They are the scum of the earth.
This is one of the 23 phone numbers I currently have stored in my phone from Santander. they call starting the 2nd business day after your due date, so you get harrassed if you aren't even 2 days past due.....10 times a day from multiple numbers, including multiple voicemails. I have submitted dozens of FTC complaints. You can send a Cease and Desist letter, but I would rather document their harassment and sue them.
