Scam!!! He said his name was Sam Williams Employee ID: AV547 and he provided the 214-717-6789 number. Our caller ID system said it was from a local Hotel and Conference room so I called the hotel while still on the phone with the scammer on the other line to see if they could track this scammer down.
Got a call from 1-214-717-6789. They told me they were from Bell and that I won a draw for a free top of the line samsung.
He was insistent on getting personal information. I insisted that I call Bell first to verify the caller. He kept trying to get info, till I told him that I was going to hang up if I could not call Bell first.
He gave me this number, 1-877-778-3870. Nobody answered. And it is not a Bell number.
He is supposed to call me back in 2 minutes now. I wonder if he can see this post first. His line was VERY choppy too. If it WAS bell, I wouldn't want to use a company that has such poor connection for their sales staff. More likely though, it was a scam artist.
Same thing as above, guy with heavy accent told me he was from bell and that i won a samsung. Asked for my name, address and SIN number OR the first 16 digits on my credit card. I told him there was no way he was getting this information and i told him i would like to speak to his boss. When i spoke to his boss(who also had a very heavy accent) he also tried to convince me he was with bell. I asked to speak to someone who spoke english as their first language. He told me yes, stopped speaking for 2 seconds, and then began speaking VERY slowly. I told him i didnt want the phone and hung up. This is most definately a SCAM and i am reporting it to bell, as well as the local police service.
I have gotten three calls from this number in the last 24 hours. I answered the second call, just in case, and I was told the same story as the previous posters. I hung up on him right after "you get a free phone". The caller immediately called me back, but I ignored it.
My main question is... is there anything Bell can do to help block these callers?
I have recently switched from Rogers to Bell. Rogers didn't have scammers like this. I had maybe.. 2 calls in a year. I have been with Bell for a month and have had over 15.
I received a call and they indicated they were from Bell my cell phone carrier. I asked for a number to call them back and when I did the person who called me was not at that number.
