Please turn these people into the FCC. They have no right to call from a number no one can reach. Nor do they have the right to call and not respond when you answer. These kinds of people need to be fined to the MAX!! Maybe that will put them out of business if they are sued often enough!
I have blocked plenty of spoofed numbers with Verizon cell service and on my land line. so whoever told you that is wrong. The problem comes in when you try to block a call with no number or less than ten digits.
They are the scummiest of scammers because they were using Military Veterans as a front. It was a recording asking to donate your boats, real estate, cars, etc. to help a veterans association. The recording said to press 1 to speak to a representative or press 9 to be put on a Do Not Call list (I'm already on my state and national Do Not Call Registry - for whatever that's worth!) Anyway - I pressed 9 because I wanted the name of a human that I would be telling to not call me again. When the person answered, I was amazed to hear it was the same voice of the douche that did the recording! Must be a HUGE (one-man?) operation - lol. I asked his name but he spoke too quickly for me to understand at first so I asked him to repeat it. He sounded VERY annoyed and exasperated when he sighed and said "This is Mark from the Veterans Association." Apparently 'Mark's' training manual says the best way to get donations (and I use that term loosely) is to act like a whiney, annoying little prick.
Unfortunately I had to leave poor little Mark without my donation as I told him to "never f-cking call this number again" and hang up.
It would almost be funny had they not been scamming in the name of Veterans.
And if I may add one last note...The Do Not Call lists are not enforced as they should be - there are just not enough resources. So (in my opinion) maybe we should find Mark and the thousands of others like him (and their families) and "help" fix the problem ourselves. Sounds fun!
You, Sir, are a genius. I agree with 100% of your comments. I've always felt that the best way to end the cold calling system and it's workforce permanently is to hunt down these wastes of air so that they may feel the guilt of causing their families' suffering before their own demise. Let's start by targeting the owners of these companies.
