I keep getting this call and they asked us where we lived my sister had answered it, she then got 3 questions 1. What's your name, she replied 2. How old are you? She replied again. Then question three 3. Where do you live? She didn't reply I hung up the phone and my family is now scared.
The Do Not Call Registry does not nor is it responsible for chasing down scammers and everyone's unwelcomed phone calls. It's creation, its only and sole intended purpose is to limit the number of actual telemarketing phone calls made by Legitimate and Registered with the FTC businesses to those registered on the DNC/FTC list. Scammers, fraudsters, abusers, scofflaws and all other unwanted phone callers are not handled by the DNC. Only complaints that are found to be REGISTERED WITH THE FTC, On file, Telemarketing companies who purchase and maintain the Do Not Call LIst monthly, are handled by the DNC Registry.
Thank you! You'd think that after so many posts concerning the DNC, that people would eventually do a little reading and understand that the Do not call list isn't responsible for solving all of their unwanted phone call problems. Just the ones that you outlined in your post. Tnx...
Apparently these scammers change their caller ID frequently. Called as "School District" twice in two hours today.
Calling from a non-local area code. I did not pick up--but did block.
I received a call from this number today. Caller ID showed the number and it just read "WIRELESS CALLER" I answered on a whim. It was a woman with a heavy accent. She DID know my name and then said, "We're contacting you about your computer."
"What about my computer?" I said sounding as sarcastic and disbelieving as possible.
My tone must have worked because she hung up.
I hope she calls back because I'm going to answer and blow a whistle into the receiver.
Indian man-refused to give his name...Asked me if I was near/on my computer. He said he was calling to help with program error messages. When I kept asking where he was calling from he finally said he was All-day Tech Support Global Service Provider with Windows. I figured it was fishy, especially when he kept saying we had to hurry-we only had 15 minutes to fix the problem. After I hung up on the guy I called my brother- Computer Tech Guy- (I don't know exactly what he does). He said it is an old scam.
