You are welcome. That's what these bottom feeders count on: A non-response, so they can get a default judgment against you. Not responding to their letters is the worst thing you could have done. Good luck!
Hi Alfafa,
Thank you once again. Well, I just finish printing up the letter by hand don't have a typewriter. I will be going to the post office this week and making out certifed return receipt like you told me to and will make copies for myself and should I need to get a lawyer. Have a great holiday. I enjoyed this site very much. Who knew that Oxford Law, LLC is really not a law office!! God bless everyone in this site.
I never knew about "bottom feeders" where till now. Low life people who enjoy scaring other people.
Scam bags!!!
Instead of sending a letter telling them the debt is old the letter should ask them to verify two things:
1. The statue of limitations of the debt. In my state it is 4 years for debt that is on a verbal agreement and 5 for a signed agreement.
2. Ask them to send you verification that they owe the debt and that no one else does.
A company bought my debt and sued me for the debt. I send them a letter asking the above that they signed for but ignored. Once we went to court I let the judge know this information and he requested the same. It took many times in court asking and asking again before they knew the debt was going to be forgiven and they were going to lose. The night before the last court date and my win they dropped the case and sold it again. The judge was happy with my fighting things and the attorney that had been hired to represent the other party in this state praised me too.
I got a call from Oxford Law today and I also called the company I owed the debt to and they verified both Pinnacle Collections and Oxford Law. I guess if your company was unable to collect the debt, they give it to the collections who then sold it or whatever business deal they make for your information to Oxford Law who then hound you for the money. You an always pay the original company, but I don't know how that affects you credit wise.
