This is exactly what has been happening to me since yesterday. Up to about 25 different numbers. Just started again this morning and I will be looking into the call blocker. Thanks.
1-2-2014: 1115 AM - CID listed as "Payroll Processing" - no voice message left; no recorded message by calling number; I work for the US Govt - they send emails to me regarding pay issues/problems. Just another scammer
I received several calls from this number. I answered the last one and a lady named Grace said she understood that I had an outstanding payday loan. I said not and she hung up. Haven't received another call since.
1:00 PM MST - received a call from 216-278-0121. Just silence on the other end. I believe they have a dialer that is probing to see if the called number is good. Then they sell it as a marketing opportunity to other companies. When you call it back, the central office says it is a non-working number. So they are spuffing the calling number ID.
This number is now blocking their number and caller ID comes up as "unknown". They've called me numerous times today I answered once and it was trying to get me to take a loan.
