check your mail for switches on your long distance company, "yellow pages" advertising, etc. just from reading the posts it sounds like they are trying to get you to answer YES then they can piece together "voice permission" to switch you to whatever company they work for at exorbitant costs (YOUR conversation response was "Yes that is my address. or Yes, that is the correct address" they "fix" the recording to be THEM: "do we have your permission to change your long distance company? or bill you $2,000 for this yellow page advertisement? then they use the "YES" part of your answer to "construct" the response they want. just say something like "That is my address. or Indeed, you have the correct address." NEVER ANSWER WITH THE WORD "YES". and NEVER GIVE A VALID NAME - they will TRY to claim that person (such as the president's name is John Moore) gave them permission.
Called our business asking if we sell sell phones, very heavy accent. I said yes, she then asked for our address, I asked why she needed it, if she was coming in or mailing me something. she said no she wasn't. I then hung up on her because she asked for the address again.
One can always tell that there's something is "not quite right" when the call comes in with a EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to understand accent asking about a business, but won't tell you who they are.
Think they would at least have people calling that can be understood.
Many Calls received, but no one on the line when I answer.
I will now block that number.
Thanks for hosting this page, so we the innocent can take precaution.
yea i have the same thing showing up on my caller ID log. they don't get through because you actually have to put in an extension number or it goes straight to voicemail.
