I too received a call from these pests, but decided to call them back to get to the bottom of why they were calling.
Turns out, they are buying the information ( SUPRISE ) from Free Credit Report.com.
This is exactly what the representative informed me of as I grilled him for details of their obtaining my cell number.
Please do not get suckered into the hype of "free" similar to credit reports, trips, ect., as ( even though I am certainly smart enough to know better ) all it takes is one moment of stupidity to create this problem, that may take weeks or even months to resolve.
I've been getting calls from this number on my cell phone and I subscribe to freecreditreport.com and have for years. I don't usually have an issue with unwanted calls on my cell. Also, freecreditreport.com does not have my cell phone number, so it doesn't sound like the rep you spoke to was accurate.
I called this number back. It's Loyalty Rewards calling about a Walmart gift card. If you stay on the line and listen to the recording, it gives you an option to be put on their internal do not call list. FYI - they call from multiple numbers.
I get numerous calls a day that league msgs each time about a free walmart gift card but I just hav to pay postage with my mair credit card#'s... Funny since I was just identity thefted at the beginning of March from an uploaded FACEBOOK VIRUS TO MY PHONE THAT COPIEDkeystrokes &uploaded evey bit of info on my phone back to n untraceabl FB# & emails. ALSO MASS ENDLESS MY WHO'LL CONTACT LIST AS ME SO THEY WOULD GET VIRUS!! Guy above is right.. do not contact them! Contact F.C.C.!
