Answered. Nothing. I said hello again. Long pause, then they asked for me by name; said something like Professional Fundraisers for Firefighters. I said I don't give money over the phone. They called back again later; sounded similar, so I hung up right away, then did *69, and retrieved this 218.297.0346 number, looked it up, and found this blog. Seems like DNC list worked fairly well this last year, but I'm sure it has expired by now; need to renew it each year.
Just got a call from this number tonight. My wife answered it thinking it was her sister who lives in 218, it obviously wasn't. The caller ID just repeats the phone number, no name. Called more than once. Tends to give a reorder when answered, sometimes a person. Unapologetic for calling wants money for non-tax deduction qualifying donation to VFW or firefighters. Likes to browbeat until you give at least a small amount $30 or $50 them want you to hold until donation can be verified by supervisor.

I said Hello and guy said his name that he was from the "Community Fire Fighters Association".
"How are you today? he asked. I said 'Fine"
"Did you have a great memorial weekend?" With that I just hung up on the Jerk SCAMMER.

Our local Fire dept has NEVER heard of this Association.
They always start out being nicey-nice saying "How are you today?"
This time I gave him the "SCAMMER HORN" for about 10 seconds.
When I went back and asked "How are you now?" - he was long gone.
I got a call today, it was to my business phone line, I was busy and thought was a solicitor so I asked what he wanted that I was busy at work, and he hung up on me! If he would have told me it was for a charity, I would have given him a little more time. Now I'm glad he did hang up, seeing as it was probably a scam.
