I started receiving these kinds of calls after I pissed off the ignorant mexican staff at the Motel 6 Anaheim Main Gait at Disneyland. I am on the national do not call registry and have not received a telemarketing call in over three years. The only place I have provided my number to in the last year is this Motel 6. I also had my belongings gone through and my friend who was staying on the other end of the hotel had her stuff gone through also and stuff stolen. Not sure if this is the root cause of these calls, but it seems awfully convenient.
Your combination of misplaced paranoia, technological ignorance and faith in government regulations means you're either a retiree, from the Midwest, or both. But if you want to believe that the Mexican Housekeeping Mafia gave your number to a telemarketer, hell, it's certainly more entertaining than understanding that you were cold called by a sequential robodialer, operated by someone who knows the Feds are too overwhelmed with violations of the national do not call registry and probably won't get caught. Oh, and VIVA FLUFFY TOWELS!
