Same thing happened to me: apartment in La Jolla for $650 with $325 deposit.

I asked for photos of them, their Grant Deed, and their I.D., but they kept ignoring my requests. When he called me, he wanted me to make the deposit within the next day or two. I told him I wasn't going to pay anything until I saw verification... He claimed that he only had paper copies, I told him to get it scanned. He said they're in Africa and that would be difficult. I said I needed verification no matter what. I asked him if he was going to email me back, and he said he'll try but there's nothing he could do if that doesn't work.

ALWAYS ASK FOR THE GRANT DEED AND I.D.!

CRAIGSLIST SCAM!!!!
I am sooooO glad I googled the number that called me!! The scam is EXACTLY as described in a previously post. Thank you soooo sooooo soooo much for this website and the information it provides. Or I would have been out A LOT of money, given in blind faith.
