Thank you Kat. You are so right. I just went through this but the second I got hit up for money I knew what it was! And thank you DR PHIL!!! It's so very sad. This breaks my heart for me and especially for those who actually paid.
I have received several calls from the same people at different numbers; always the same voice.
The scam they are trying to use with me is that they represent Microsoft and that my computer has been hacked and I need to sign in to my account for them to make repairs.
Happened to me last year and I bit. They want you to go online and once there you click on an innocent looking link - BINGO! Ransom virus! They gave me a phone number to WIRE $300 to a place in China. Really! They said not to tell anyone why you're doing this but I did and the lady said her brother got this and just take your PC to Best Buy and get it fixed. I did but $$.
