received a call from this unknown number, left a message indicating they were a collection agency and were calling to collect on a debt. must be totally fabricated as I have been in the same place 20 years, and recently ran my credit reports and all was fine - must be a scam hoping for a trusting person to give credit card information to make them go away. Sorry - not working here!
I got a call from this number. i didnt answer. i have never lived in maryland and dont know anyone from there. i have never rented from anyone and dont owe any money. they didnt leave a message and when i texted the number i didnt get a response back. thanks to the other comments on this site i will not contact the number anymore.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
