Received a recorded call from 240-547-0699 stating that I needed to call the IRS back or action would be taken against me. A few months ago I received other calls from the "IRS". So annoying!! Such a scam.
I got a strange call from this number , gave me a a badge number saying they are from IRS. BUT looking up this number I can't find it associated with an IRS office, Anyone else received something similar ?
Do not call this number. It is a scam. If you are truly concerned, call the IRS number provided on the website and verify; or email them. The number came from an Level3 VoIP in McLean, VA (internet based number).
I received this call today called them back he give me my name but I hang up I know irs don't call on phone without mailing first . An I know the is lots of scam going around .
Received a call this morning, urged me to call back which I did. A guy with a strong foreign accent saying he is with the IRS answered. Wanted my Social Security Number. I told him I'll call back after I verified his position. He told me to call 1-800 -829-1040 to verify. I tried the #, it is the IRS but it is no help at all. Obviously I did not call him back.
This guy just called me 20 minutes ago. Thickest foreign accent. Could hardly understand him. Said he was from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the IRS. When I asked him the address of his office he got very flustered.i will report him to the IRS.
