Received a recorded call from 240-547-0699 stating that I needed to call the IRS back or action would be taken against me. A few months ago I received other calls from the "IRS". So annoying!! Such a scam.
Just received call from male with heavy foreign accent. Told me we were under investigation with the IRS and that the number we called for IRS is a scam and that this has not been the IRS number since 2007. Number is in IRS website. I ended up hanging up on him. Do NOT give them any info!!!!
Same here. I posted the number on my fb page and now want everyone to report to irs. You can do this on their website. It takes 2 minutes. I also called and gave him an earful-- since he used so much profanity and upset my elderly mother and I am furious.
I got the same thing - the thing is I got an IRS notification in the email the same day.
The coincidence to me is troubling because I believe they knew I would get the notification and that woul dlend credence to their scheme which is truly fraudulent.
