Just got a call around 4PM today est - heavy asian accent who butchered my name. Told me they were from the warranty processing center, I get mail from these guys too. I have a 5 year warranty on my car so I hung up on them. Looked up the phone number and it's to a Peerless Network of Michigan LLC - I'm guessing a switchboard for telemarketers. I'm on the do-not-call registry as well. My cell is a 248 number even though I haven't lived in state for 8 years.
My wife received the same calls from this number. A man with a heavy Indian accent asked her for her car mileage and something about car warranty but she told him she didn't know that info. She told him that she didn't know where he was calling from and she hung up on him. I called the number back but the message said the office is currently closed.
Any idea how and where we can report this scam? I am sure some people will fall for it.
The area code was local so I answered. A woman with an accent asked for me by name. I replied "this is" and she hung up. I immediately called the number back and a recording says the office is now closed yada yada, but does not give the name of the business or any further info...and then disconnects. No opportunity to leave a message. After reading other reports, clearly sounds like a scam to me. Great...I gave them the name attached to the phone number...
