THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number, or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. Report to US Postal Service Inspectors https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.
Wow - these people have been busy the last hour or so I see. I got a call from the same...Lisa Middleton...saying we spoke on the phone the other day and she found a "solution" about how to lower my credit interest rate. Funny thing - I've never spoken to this person in my life and I've only had my credit card for a couple of weeks. SCAM - don't call back and don't waste your time listening to the message.
I didn't answer as I didn't recognize the area code. They left a message, a pre-record I'm sure, of a young lady saying "Hi this is You Lady, we spoke before about getting you a lowe interest rate, and I found a solution! We can get your payment lowered, andsinceyou are only making the minimum payments, this could be a really good deal for you! Call me at 877-723-1426 n we'll get it set up!"
I encourae people to call that number and jam the lines acting stupid and wasting their time.
Received this call at 14:34 CST. Didn't recognize it so didn't answer. They left a voicemail informing me of their free home security system which can reduce my home insurance rate by 20%.
