This has to be a scam of some sort. I've received calls from several different numbers, but all the same "program". At first, after they said their initial announcement, I would ask to be removed from the calling list and they would just immediately hang up. I asked for a Supervisor on the last call and stated that I do not know what the "program" is, but I have asked multiple times for my number to be removed. The person I spoke with stated they would ensure that I did not receive any further calls. We'll see....
I was told that the government is giving all good American citizens $8,000.00 for being good. All I have to do is go to "card section" at any one of five stores, Wal-mart, Target, whatever and get a green dot card (may be a credit card??? not sure) and scratch off the back to reveal the number on the card. Once I call them back with that number they will notify federal officials in Washington to release the $8,000 to my account. However, I have to put $150.00 on the card before the government will release the $8,000 to me. Then, I will get an additional $50.00 for opening the card. For a grand total of $8,250.00 (the math is off). When I asked why I didn't hear about this on the news I was told that the government had to keep it a secret because they only pick 1500 "good citizens" a year for this award and that if the rest of the country heard about it they would be angry because they weren't chosen for the award. AND "because" the government can't afford to award that many people. The man asked how soon I could get to the store and get back to him with the information. After several more attempts to get ETA at one of the stores and my continual reply of "I don't know," he said it was ok and to make sure that I called him as soon as I got to the store.
I have been getting a call form this number so many times I day I lost count, I have got the cops involved and the guy got an attitude with the cop and started cussing at me saying he was going to do nasty thing to me.
I've had the same thing done, and they continue to call me. I have several different numbers on my "block" number list because of this.. It's just ridiculous what people do for scams and get busted in the process.
This guy keeps calling me too. I told him I was about to get an attorney because I am on the "Do not call" list and I have asked repeatedly for them to stop calling. His reply is, "Are you sure maam?" It's really annoying. I am about to call my attorney now and have him draft a letter to these morons.
Arrogant middle eastern voice calls 4-5 times in a day. When I called back they said why am I calling. I said I received calls from this and was seeing who it is. They never told me what they want just kept repeating what you want.
