Received a call from these idiots and I decided to put them on the hot foot. Told them we knew all about their operation and threatened them with the usual law suit even told them where they are from. This woman's name is Ellen from Credit Services in New Jersey. They had been calling previously but the person they wanted isn't at my number and I didn't care. Maybe the Attorney General's Office in each State including New Jersey should be contacted.
Indian guy called, said he was from microsoft..asked to speak to my mom. i had JUST saw the news about this scam, told him off for calling so late, and said i recorded the number, because i knew it was a scam. He then hung up.
This # call today at 0941p and 0945 oct 17th....no one was there either time....hung up and pressed talk after few seconds..recorded ladies voice saying goodbye. ANNOYING!!!
Received 2 calls from this #. One on Friday afternoon. and one this morning. Missed both calls and they left no message. Is this all a scam. I don't need anymore aggravation in my life.
Heavy Indian accent claiming to be with Microsoft and saying my computer had a lot of viruses. Asked me if I was in front of my computer. I told him that he was a scammer and that he must think I'm an idiot to believe the story he just told me. He told me I was an idiot and hung up!
Yep. Trikon 1-253-236-2020 in Caller I.D. Urgent panicky sounding "MicroTech" rep with thick accent (yes, possibly Indian/Pakistani/Middle Eastern) saying my computer had downloaded a DLL virus and that I urgently needed to go, turn on the computer, and verify the I.D. number she would give me. (My computer was already on and online!) Figured a scam, but I was amused. I engaged. How did you get my phone number? "From Microsoft." What is the name of your company “MicroTech.” And if I phone Microsoft they’ll confirm your association? “Yes.” How do I contact you after I verify? "800-508-8418." (Won’t bother dialing. Google didn’t hit on anything helpful.) What is the virus called? "DLL Chosen Virus.” And if I go to the Norton website it’ll show up there? “Yes, but the virus has already disabled your virus software and if you don’t act fast, you could lose your computer.” She kept trying to get me to urgently verify that I.D. number, which she would give me. Then she called me by my mother’s name. (The phone number belongs to my Mom.) My nearly 90-yr-old mother doesn’t have anything computer-like registered in her name. I said, “[Name] doesn’t own a computer. If you have the power you say, you already know my computer is on.” This slowed the gal down and really baffled her. She finally gave up. Thanks to a Google hit on this website, I can verify my suspicions. Thanks everyone! Maybe they could call it TryCON!
