When let go voicemail no message when answer they hang up when call back its automated message saying they are busy thanks for holding an associate will be with you.
They have called me at least 10 times today. I called the number back and told then they were full of s___. And then I hung up. So annoying, but so glad I have caller ID.
I have gotten calls from this number numerous times. I do not answer because I don't recognize the numbers. Wish they would stop calling me. Very annoying while I am at work and my phone just continues to ring.
I have had to deal with things like this all the time and honestly, I like these boards but everyone's story is the same with some details being a bit different, but overall it's the same. See a couple years back when I was bit younger and dumb, I get a call from some "Indian Accent" guy with an Irish last name (Detective McFarland) or something like that. So this guy claims he is with the state Attorney's office and tells me that I have a outstanding payday loan that I need to pay off. He is demanding that I pay something to the tune of $1000.00 or he will have the police come and get me. I'm young and stupid (don't worry I didn't pay), I believe this guy at first, I am work while I am having this conversation that now has me panic stricken. I tell him that I will call him back, I get off the phone and discuss the situation with a co-worker and once my brain slows down, I start to realize all the things that are wrong with this phone call. First of all police do not tell you if there are going to come and get you, secondly in California you can't be prosecuted for passing a bad check with a pay-day loan (it's the law due to the nature of the business). So my brain final comes out of shock and I get smart. I Google the phone # and find out that it's a scam (thank you internet). To make a long story short, that's what all of this is. I worked in Security at the time, so I decide to investigate it further and I even go as far as to call the FBI (the person was impersonating an officer of the court, which is a felony). After I discussed this with an Agent, they told me that these numbers are from an internet line that gets mascaraed as a number in the US. The call center is in India and so out the jurisdiction of the FBI, but not Interpol's. The agent take my complaint and said he move it on to Interpol to deal with.
Because I know everyone's into a good revenge story, I call the SOB back and act all afraid and even allow him to think I'm going to pay his dumb [***]. Well once I had him in the sling to take my credit card information, I inform him that I am well aware of their scam and that they are from India (he argues with me for a min), then I tell him I have contacted the FBI and Interpol and they told me they had the location of their business and that I was setting up a trap that he fell for. I tell him Interpol agents were on the line with me and that they have our entire conversation on tape and that they will be storming the building any second. I finish the call with "Have a nice day!" He sound like he was in a panic hurry to get the hell out of there.
I really should start a website that tells people about these scams, because to many people get taken by this stuff, ever kid in America should be taught in school to Google all phone #'s that they don't know. It will help them alot
