Called and hung up when I answered - which is so typical of the scammers. If this is the police scam, then that is connected to the veterans scam which is connected to ...... Has been a scammy day here, and have to wonder why these idiots keep calling with the scams (no chance in hell that I would give out anything but made up financial info). Have tried blocking, never answering the phone, giving out bogus credit card information, and nothing stops the flow of scam calls. Lately, I just answer the phone and blather nonsense in another language. This is a travesty that these scammers are allowed to call endlessly without ANY repercussions. Seems like the phone companies could stop this endless harassment in a moment if they wanted to.
Just got a call and caller ID said" out of area" which means scam, on another site they said the person identified them self as " police fund raising" and wanted to know how much money they could give immediately. I blocked the number.
Called at 6:36 PM Caller ID only showed the number and Unknown Name. No message left on my voice mail. Has a local number but I do not recognize it. Must be a scam outfit since they did not leave a message.
They called me Sunday the 14th and he immediately started his pitch as soon as I said hello. He did say something about police fund raising - I said "B-S" and to never call my number again. Then hung up and blocked the number on the phone.
Well, they called back today AFTER I told them to not call (my phone does show the number even though it does not ring). That's a violation of the law - IF you tell someone who can legally make a cold call to you (survey, charity, political group, etc.) to not call you they can't call again for a minimum of 1 year.
So calling back puts them in the scum scammer category.
Do NOT contribute any money to them, do NOT give them any info at all.
This guy, "John", has called our house repeatedly over the past year claiming to be fundraising for the police. The number shows as unknown caller but since it is a local area code I always get tricked into answering it. He acts all jovial in the beginning of the call like he thinks he is your buddy. I instantly cut him off and tell him he has called repeatedly and I have asked him to stop calling, but he continues trying several times a day for awhile. Then a few months later the cycle starts over again. The next time this number pops up, he's getting the whistle.
