Won't leave a message. Caller ID says "Auburn WA". In the past, calls from "Auburn WA" (but different no.) have been reported as the "I'm calling from Microsoft to fix your computer" scam. I suspect they are spoofing a different no. now.

It seems these idiots never get the message that you are not buying their story. I have given quite a few different responses to their statement "We are from Microsoft and you have a problem with your computer" I haven't let them get past that point. I said to them one time: "Wow thanks for telling me I will get on that problem right away and fix it!" and I hang up. Or I told them one time: "If you know I have a problem you had to illegally access my computer and will be arrested for it If I figure out where you are!" I wish they would call a police officer and tell them to call back in 5 minutes and then forward their phone to the prearranged phone at the PD to trace them to their exact location. I cannot begin to say how frustrating it is to have the same people call you over and over again. And what good is The "Do Not Call Registry" when people totally ignore it. I am almost at the point now to go after these idiots. The way I see it if they call you turn the tables on them and play ignorant and get them to believe you are doing what they say to waste their time to do nothing make it seem like your hard of hearing or say you pushed a button they didn't ask you to, and then say "Oh you meant that!?" I feel like phone calls you do not want is the same as trespassing. Just my 2 cents.

First, scammers and criminals, whether domestic or foreign, do not care about the fact that they are disobeying the law.  The rest of what they are doing is also breaking the law and carries bigger penalties including jail time. Second, the vast majority of these scams are originating outside the country with the perpetrators using Magic Jack and an internet connection to appear to be calling from inside the US.  Without the cooperation of the authorities in the country the calls originate from, there is not much the US authorities can do to stop this.
