There are sooo many of this type of call, and soooo many sites like this to report it and complain about it yet nothing ever changes. I am now thinking that the people doing the calling are also sponsoring these sites and getting a big ego charge out of all of this. I just wanted to share that as food for thought. I answered, but hung up as soon as I was aware of that "dead space" before the call actually connects.
Just had a call from this #; said they were calling seniors 65 and over for a special AARP approved program wherein I would get one of those emergency alert items free plus $3,000 in grocery coupons and that I had been recommended by my php. So I pressed #1 to talk with a rep. (knew this was a scam)....their message while holding was also they wanted to verify that they had my correct info. When a rep. finally answered, he immediately asked for my name, etc. (now if they called me shouldn't he have that) so instead I told him he should tell me what info he has on me and let me verify if he has it right or not and who was the php that made this recommendation. So, of course, then he started acting as though he couldn't hear and understand me and that I was breaking up. Let him know I knew he was a scammer and that I wasn't stupid but that he was stupid to think I would fall for their scam. He did finally hang up on me. I may be past the age of 65, but not gullible nor stupid enough to fall for this stuff.
