What the hell is the point of all you people posting on here that you don't know who the caller was? The reason people come here is to find out who's calling from this number, not to find out who doesn't know who's calling.
Actually their posts are helpful and have been to me. Saved me time and I learned they are bogus calls without me having to do the research . I see your point about wanting to know who is calling and why. This is my first time posting
Caller ID said local, yeah right. Anyway, I changed my outgoing message to The SIT code for disconnected, followed by a message for humans after a 5 second pause of dead air. This works for real telemarketers, but the scammers wont pay for a good system, so I also turned off my ringer, programmed in a second sound for people I want to talk to, and set their ringer ID to that sound, now the only time my phone actually rings, is when I want to talk to the person calling. I go through the caller ID when I'm bored and confer with a search engine to see if I missed anything important.
I find it sad the only solution seems to be "don't answer" calls from unknown numbers. That is all well and good but it does not solve the issue of the interruption. Some people work odd hours and are trying to sleep or are ill or any number of things that make a ringing phone an issue. As a consumer who pays for the equipment and the service of a telephone, I find it unconscionable that random phone calls can be considered a legitimate business. Call blocking does not appear to work.
Look for a blocking device that allows "first ring suppression" and "sleep mode"
The phone MUST ring to ID the number in order to block it. First ring suppression silences the first ring of all calls. If the number is blocked, your phone will light up, read "caller blocked" and go dark. The phone will not ring.
As a night owl, I never get out of bed until noon. I set "sleep mode" for 6am-12pm. The phone will not ring during those hours.
