We have great credit, thankfully, but somehow my cell number became the target for collecting on a student loan. There were tons of calls (I never answered thanks to these websites) and then peace until today this number showed up. So not sure how my number got on their lists, I haven't had a student loan since 1983, and it was paid up long ago. Bless you all for reporting on these numbers.
And checking their affiliations page on their website, they are not members of any of the organizations they claim to be. I have sent e-mails to some of them asking for confirmation of their membership or to ask them to remove the affiliation. Hopefully it can stir a bit of aggravation their way.

I had blocked this number for all the usual reasons as you all have. IE: I Don't talk to people I don't know, dead air when you first answer the phone, etc. I use a simple little blocker right on my phone. It just rings once and then disconnects them. I noticed today I was getting a number of single rings in a short period of time and it was these people, display showed "Tate", phone: 267-407-0100. Decided to come out here and her see what you folks were experiencing and noticed it was a collection agency. Myself, by the Grace of God I have escaped any seriously ill effects from the economy and there was absolutely no reason a collector should be calling me. So I decided to unblock them so I could find out why they were calling. I am thinking identity theft or something nefarious.
As others have mentioned, they were trolling, trying to track someone down. He asked for a name like mine, but it was not exact. Hypothetical, say I am Daniel Miller and all my friends call me Dan. The guy was asking for Danny Miller, a form of the name I have never use. I corrected him and said I am Dan Miller. He says he is calling on behalf of some company that I supposedly have an account with. I said, never heard of them and don't have an account with them. He then offers that they are an agent of Best Buy. I said I know Besy Buy but have never had an account with them. He gives me last 4 of a Social Security Number that is not mine. Once I tell him it's not my SSN, He apologizes for the call and that is the end of it.
Overall, there were very polite and cordial, but quite the pests! We'll see if they call back!
Can't get anything in writting from them or anything saying the debt is paid. Afraid it wont get reported ad paid and then passed onfor more collection
These jokers call my cell phone. They say they are calling for me and my ex-husband. I have been remarried for 13 years and my ex-husband has been dead for four years. Tells you how old whatever it is they are calling about. Probably about 14 years. They gotta be kidding me! My cell phone number isn't even in my old married name, never had a cell phone when my ex and I were married.
